Dr. JACK WENGROSKY IS CURRENTLY teaching TRUMPET IN THE Miami area where he just earned A D.M.A. IN Jazz and STUDIO TRUMPET PERFORMANCE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI. He is Available for Concerts, clinics, and lessons.

As a freelance musician and former 1st trumpet, soloist and clinician from the US Army’s premier touring big band, The Jazz Ambassadors,  Jack Wengrosky has toured 49 states and 38 countries during his career, playing well over 2000 concerts and hundreds of high school and college clinics.  Jack has 25 CDs to his credit and has performed as lead trumpet for Barry Manilow, Gloria Estefan, Jon Secada, Take 6, Diane Schurr, Doc Severinsen, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Freddie Hubbard, Rich Little, Steve Allen, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Guy Lombardo, Clark Terry, Count Basie's vocalist Joe Williams and many more. 

While with the band, he has made appearances with 9 major symphonies including Baltimore, National, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Denver, Milwaukee, Seattle, Cincinnati, and the Boston Pops and performed for the last 6 Presidents of the United States, the Queen of England, and numerous TV and radio appearances. In 2009, he performed with Jon Faddis and Herbie Hancock and the Brubeck Sons at the Kennedy Center Honors, and two concerts at Carnegie Hall in 2000 and 2009. 

Now performing selected pops concerts with the Naples Philharmonic, and Sarasota Orchestra, and soon to be released CDs with Dennis Noday/Lee Harris Superband, and an unnamed project composed by John Daversa.

BACKGROUND

Jack received his DMA at the University of Miami Frost School of Music, a MM at the University of North Texas where he was lead trumpet in the Grammy nominated One O’clock Lab band, and received a BA at Elmhurst College. His teachers include Bobby Shew, Brian Lynch, Craig Morris, Don Jacoby, Arnold Jacobs, Doug Beach, Keith Johnson, Rich Corpolongo, and Joe Gaylord who started Jack on trumpet in Hillside, Illinois. Jack has been a teaching assistant at the University of Miami, an instructor at Miami Arts Charter, Ransom Everglades Academy, Northwestern HS, Frisco ISD, Loyola Blakefield Academy. He was the enlisted bandleader of the Maryland Defense Force Band, and the director of the Music & Arts Big Band.
